United
Precious Metal Refining, Inc.
#PD1, PD2 Alloy
Thank you for using UNITED'S alloys.
UNITED'S PD1, PD2 Palladium white alloys are nickel free white
master alloys. PD1 is designed for 14K casting. PD2 is designed for
18K casting. The color produced will be a moderate white, which
should be Rhodium plated for optimum color. PD1 and PD2 alloy can be
used in regular investment, but is somewhat better using Phosphate
bonded investment.
You should obtain excellent results by following a few simple
instructions.
MELTING
| Melt Temperature for 14K - 18K Alloyed Grain |
1090°- 1100°C |
1994°-2012°F |
| Melt Temperature for Alloying |
1100°- 1110°C |
2012°- 2030°F |
We do recommend pre-graining all alloy and fine gold before
casting to assure a uniform mixture.
FLASK TEMPERATURE
Normal recommended temperature for white gold.
FLUXING
Boric Acid is the recommended flux. Use as little flux as possible.
Do not use carbon fluxes or any fluxes designed for refining; i.e.
soda ash, saltpeter, etc. Avoid flux in bottom pour automatic
casting units.
QUENCH TIME
15 minutes
INVESTMENT REMOVAL
Most standard investment removers will successfully remove the
investment powder. UNITED'S Brite-Cast Investment Remover also works
very well.
REMELTING
We recommend 50% rejuvenation for remelting. Reuse will be limited
to a few melts.
NOTES
Melt temperature may vary with type of unit. This alloy is designed
for casting only, but may be used for hand-made.
